David L. Rogers

David Rogers’s practice focuses primarily on
representing health care providers and professionals
in matters such as business organization, contracts,
third party payer audits and reimbursement,
fraud-and-abuse matters, professional license
disciplinary actions, government investigations,
hospital staff privilege actions, legislative issues
and joint ventures. He regularly advises physician
groups and other health care providers on their
business operations, professional matters and
day-to-day legal issues. Mr. Rogers is a 1982 cum
laude graduate of Wayne State University Law School,
Detroit, and has an undergraduate degree in business
and accounting. Before entering the legal
profession he was a Regional Administrator and
Regional Controller for outpatient facilities owned
by a large national health care company.
Mr. Rogers has been active in health law
organizations for many years. He was Chairperson of
the State Bar of Michigan Health Care Law Section in
2006-2007, culminating several years of service to
the Section in various positions. He has served as
a member of the Board of Visitors of Wayne State
University Law School (2002-2009), and is a past
President (1998-1999) and Director (1997-2002) of
the Wayne State University Law Alumni Association.
He was recently appointed to the Board of Visitors
of the Wayne State University Honors College. Since
2002 Mr. Rogers has been a faculty member of the
Internal Medicine Residency Program, Wayne State
University School of Medicine, and is a past member
of the Committee of Visitors, Vera P. Shiffman
Medical Library of the School of Medicine. His
other professional activities have included the
Healthcare Financial Management Association
(Advanced Member 1995; Follmer Award recipient 1999)
the Oakland County Bar Association (current member
of the Medical-Legal Committee; past member, Public
Advisory Committee on Judicial Candidates), the
American Health Lawyers Association (1986-present),
and the American Bar Association (Health Law
Section).
Mr. Rogers has been awarded the AV
Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Rating, the highest
rating for legal ability and general ethical
standards, and has been selected as a Michigan Super
Lawyer in health care law by the publishers of Law &
Politics each year since Super Lawyers began rating
Michigan lawyers.
Mr. Rogers is listed in The Best Lawyers in America
in health care law.

Theresamarie
Mantese’s practice focuses primarily on representing
health care providers, professionals and businesses
in commercial litigation involving contracts and
business transactions, employment, medical billing,
and in administrative law and contract matters.
Ms. Mantese has over 20 years of experience as a
litigation attorney. She began the practice of law
in 1980 in St. Louis, Missouri with Gumersell, Denk
& Brinkman, a litigation firm, in which she became a
partner. During her practice in St. Louis,
Ms. Mantese was lead or co-lead counsel in many
significant federal and state court trials involving
contract disputes, breach of warranty and
workmanship issues, defamation and product
liability.
In 1995, Ms. Mantese relocated to Michigan and
co-founded her own law firm in which she represented
diverse clients in areas of commercial law,
professional malpractice and employment law. She
obtained several significant settlements that
appeared in statewide publications. Her clients
included health care providers, lending
institutions, utilities, computer businesses and
non-profit corporations. Since then, her practice
has included handling diverse cases involving
professional malpractice, employment law and
business law. Her clients have included health care
providers and diverse state, national and
international businesses.
Ms. Mantese obtained her bachelor’s degree in
Political Science from the University of
Missouri-St. Louis, graduating summa cum laude in
1977, where she received a four-year University
Scholarship for high academic standing. She
attended the St. Louis University School of Law and
was awarded her Juris Doctorate degree in 1980. She
taught business law to post-graduate students at
Webster University in St. Louis. Presently, she is
is a case evaluator for the commercial panels in
Wayne County and Oakland County Circuit Courts. Ms.
Mantese has been awarded the AV Martindale-Hubbell

Rolf Lowe’s practice focuses primarily on
representing health care organizations and
professionals in professional license actions, labor
and employment
matters
associated with health care,
civil rights claims and administrative actions,
business matters, Medicare, Medicaid and other
federal and state compliance issues, hospital staff
privilege actions, civil litigation and mediation.
Mr. Lowe is a 2002 cum laude graduate of Wayne
State University Law School, Detroit. He received a
Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of
Michigan, Ann Arbor, in 1998.
Mr. Lowe was recognized as one of six “Up and Coming
Lawyers” by Michigan Lawyers Weekly in 2007, noting
that
he “has
established himself within the unique service area
of analyzing the interplay between health care and
labor law.” Before joining the firm in 2006, Mr.
Lowe worked as an attorney in a firm with offices in
Ann Arbor and Farmington Hills, Michigan,
representing local and national clients in the areas
of professional negligence claims, products
liability, environmental law and general negligence
claims, as well as general business and estate
planning matters. Earlier, he worked in a
litigation firm located in Detroit, focusing his
practice on the representation of assisted living
facilities, medical professionals and health care
organizations in malpractice and negligence
litigation.
During law school, Mr. Lowe worked as a law clerk in
a defense-oriented labor and employment law firm and
with the Michigan Department of Civil Rights. He
also served as an intern for the Federal Public
Defender, Wayne County Prosecutor's office, Legal
Services of Southeastern Michigan, and the Washtenaw
County Public Defender's office. Mr. Lowe served as
Chair of the Law Student Section Governing Council,
State Bar of Michigan, from 2001 to 2002, and was a
member of Moot Court at Wayne State University from
2000 to 2002. Mr. Lowe also worked as a research
associate with the University of Michigan
Transportation Research Institute/Michigan State
Police before attending law school.

Christina M. Torossian

Christina Torossian’s practice focuses on
representing health care organizations and
professionals in business matters, business
formation and restructuring, mergers and
acquisitions, employment and shareholder contracts,
general business contracts and other commercial
transactions. She also advises businesses in
connection with general corporate matters.
Before joining the firm, Ms. Torossian worked as an
attorney for six years in the Business/Corporate
Group of Bodman LLP, one of Michigan’s largest law
firms, where she represented clients in mergers and
acquisitions, entity formation, corporate
restructuring, nonprofit issues including obtaining
tax-exempt status, and other day-to-day business
transactions. She was in-house corporate counsel
for two years for an international child care
company where she worked extensively on mergers and
acquisitions. Before entering the legal profession,
Ms. Torossian had a business career with IBM for
several years. In 2008, she received a Pro Bono
Service Award from the Legal Aid & Defender
Association of Michigan for her work in advising and
representing Association clients. She is currently
a member of the State Bar of Michigan Corporate
Practice of Medicine Task Force.
Ms. Torossian is a 2000 graduate of Wayne State
University Law School, Detroit, graduating cum
laude. While in law school, Ms. Torossian worked as
a law clerk for Wayne County Circuit Court Judge
Kaye Tertzag, and was a Silver Key Award recipient.
She received a Bachelor of Science degree in
Business Administration from Wayne State University,
Detroit, graduating with honors in 1983. Ms.
Torossian is a member of the State Bar of Michigan
(including the Health Care Law and Business Law
Sections).

Gregory Nowakowski’s
practice focuses
representing health care providers and professionals
in matters such as

need, Stark Law and fraud-and-abuse issues, business
organization, professional license disciplinary

and labor law issues associated with health care.
Mr. Nowakowski is a 2007 graduate of Wayne State
University Law School, Detroit.
He served
as Editor-in-Chief of the Wayne Law Review, and was
the 2006-2007 recipient of the Jason Honigman
Award. As Editor-in-Chief, Mr. Nowakowski worked
closely with the Honorable Gerald E. Rosen (U.S.
District Court, Eastern District of Michigan) to
host the 2006 Law Review Symposium entitled “Issues
in the War on Terror: Investigations, the Media, and
Article III Courts,” featuring noted Judges, U.S.
Department of Justice attorneys, and Central
Intelligence Agency officials. Mr. Nowakowski
served as a judicial intern with Judge Rosen in
2007.
Before law school, Mr. Nowakowski served as a staff
assistant in the Michigan State Senate. As an
undergraduate student at Michigan State University,
he served in student government for three years as
treasurer, Vice-Chair, and Chair of the James
Madison College Student Government.
He received a Bachelor of Arts degree with Honors
from Michigan State University, James Madison
College, in 2004, graduating with honors and
magna cum laude.
